Frequently Asked Questions
Q. I’m having installation issues, what should I do?
A. Please make sure you have all Windows Critical Updates from the Microsoft Windows Update Site.
Q. Why do I get the error message “detection of services failed” when I’m trying to pair my computer with a Bluetooth Stereo Headset?
A. Please download and install Toshiba Service Pack v1.0, unzip it and install it on your system. That should resolve this issue.
Q. What Bluetooth services are embedded in Windows XP SP2?
A. What Bluetooth services are embedded in Windows XP SP2? A. HID (Human Interface Device), HCRP (Hard Copy Cable Replacement), DUN (Dial-up Networking, PAN (Personal Area Network), OPP (Object Push), and SPP (Virtual COM Port). To use additional services such as Headset, please install the included Toshiba Stack software.
Q. I tried to do a device search but my computer is not detecting my Bluetooth devices.
A. Make sure that your Bluetooth devices are enabled and set to be discoverable. Please refer to your devices user’s guide for instructions.
Q. When I use the File Transfer service, where are the files transferred to on my computer?
A. They will be located in your “My Documents” folder under C:\My Documents\Bluetooth\Share
Q. What is EDR?
A. EDR means Enhanced Data Rate, which offers 3 times the data rate then the current Bluetooth v1.2 standard. EDR allows devices to perform more smoothly and enhance the sound quality for Bluetooth headsets and other operations.
Q. What is Pairing?
A. Pairing is syncing Bluetooth devices to remain permanently linked.
Q. What is a Pass Key and what is it for?
A. A Pass Key is a numeric code that you create to authenticate a pairing request between two devices. If the Pass Key does not match the code entered (or built-in) on the remote device, the connection will not be allowed. Once the remote device has been authenticated the notification for a Pass Key will not appear again, unless the paired relationship is broken and the devise must re-sync.
Q. What is the minimum and maximum Pass Key that can be used when pairing Bluetooth devices?
A. The Pass Key length can range from 4 to 16 numeric characters.
Q. When I connect the device to the USB port of my Vista PC, why do I get a message saying “Unknown Device Driver installed”?
A. Please update your Vista OS via Microsoft Window’s Update. For more details, please see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925528
